Cand omitem pronumele relativ engleza?
Omitem pronumele relativ în engleză când acesta nu este subiectul propoziției relative. Această omisiune se numește 'reduced relative clause' și face vorbirea mai naturală. De exemplu, în propoziția 'The book (that) I read was interesting', 'that' poate fi omis.
Când putem omite pronumele relativ
- Pronumele nu este subiect Omitem pronumele când acesta este obiect direct, indirect sau după prepoziție. Exemplu: 'The man (whom) you saw is my friend'.
- Propoziția este restrictivă Omisiunea se face doar în propoziții relative restrictive (esențiale). Exemplu: 'The car (that) I bought is red'.
- Nu există prepoziție înainte Dacă prepoziția este la începutul propoziției relative, pronumele nu se omite. Exemplu: 'The house in which I live' nu devine 'The house in I live'.
Exemple practice
- Cu omisiune 'The movie (that) we watched was boring.' Pronumele 'that' este obiect și poate fi omis.
- Fără omisiune 'The student who passed the exam is happy.' Aici 'who' este subiect, deci nu se omite.
- Exercițiu rapid Transformă: 'The cake that she baked is delicious.' Răspuns: 'The cake she baked is delicious.'
